Antioxidants

Antioxidants are natural compounds that help protect the body’s cells from harmful free radicals. These free radicals are very reactive atoms that can damage cell DNA, impair the immune system and lead to various infections and degenerative diseases such as heart disease and cancer. Some free radicals are produced in our bodies through natural processes whereas others enter through ionizing radiation from the sun, X-rays, industrial pollution, smoke and other toxins. Antioxidants are found in vitamins A, C and E as well as selenium, manganese, zinc, copper, glutathione, CoQ10, beta-carotene, lutein, lycopene, grape seed extract, N-acetylcysteine (NAC), alpha lipoic acid, and tocotrienols. Other great antioxidants are phytonutrients found in green tea, turmeric, ginkgo biloba and milk thistle
