DIAPER DOUBLERS: ADULT DIAPER BOOSTER PADS
Adult diaper booster pads are used in conjunction with absorbent undergarments to provide additional absorbency when necessary. They are also known as diaper doublers, since they are always used to “double up” on wearable incontinence products to increase the liquid capacity and prevent leaking.
Adult diaper booster pads have a porous backing which allows liquid to flow through to the diaper underneath. The permeability is what allows it to add to the absorbency of the diaper. It’s not meant to be used as the main absorbency product; it’s designed for supplemental use with another incontinence product such as a pullup or adult diaper.
Some individuals stack up multiple adult diaper inserts in one diaper to increase its absorbency. Since the diaper booster pad has an adhesive backing and is porous, multiple pads can usually be secured in place, one atop another, without any of them slipping and letting liquid leak through. Of course, not everyone uses multiple pads at a shot; some people use one at a time. Those individuals also appreciate the fact that this pad can be stuck into place, and will not slide over.
Although using several booster pads simultaneously can increase the liquid capacity, the same does not hold true for doubling up on diapers alone. Putting on two quality incontinence diapers; one over the next, is not very effective, since incontinence diapers are made to be leak proof. If double diapering does work, that’s a sign that these diapers are not high quality. Therefore, using two waterproof incontinence diapers at once is rather pointless. Going up a size, or using booster pads for adults, is a much more ideal solution.
The most absorbent booster pads will increase an incontinence product’s absorption by more than 10 ounces. Quality booster pads will also prevent skin rashes, and reduce the amount of necessary night-time changes.
Booster pads are most often used as overnight underpads; they provide individuals with light to moderate incontinence with the protection and security that they can sleep worry-free.
